You are taking a midday bath right now and Emily is sleeping on the couch sick.  I stepped out of the bathroom and around the corner.  I could hear your bath play and splashes getting progressively more robust so I walked back in.  You looked up at me as I approached and said, "just keep working."  It is the equivalent of "there is nothing to see here."  The bathroom will be underwater soon.

Emily and Daddy got me a singing and dancing Moose this morning and you love it!  It dances and sings "Moves Like Jagger" and his shirt says "Moose Like Jagger."  When you finally finished your lunch I said you could play it four times before nap.  Since you are feeling contrary lately and extra tired today you said, "I will play it THREE times!"  (Three is your favorite number.)

You came in my room telling me that you wanted me to come to your room.  You stopped at the edge of my bathroom and just looked at me as I adjusted my necklace and turned to face you.  I asked why you wanted me to come to your room and you said, "because… you look pwetty."  (pretty)  Awwww.

You and Emily had a great time today playing with all of the toys.  When it was finally time to go, you carried over this steering wheel toy, that had captured much of your attention, and told me that you were going to get it for in the car.  I responded that you were not going to get the toy and you said, "oh yes I am!"

*"Oh yes I am" and "Oh no I'm not" are becoming common for you.  Not even sure where you first heard them though.

We came home in time for lunch and I said that y'all could watch a show during lunch.  BUT, I said there would only be one and you both had to agree on it.  While Emily was shouting for Wild Kratts, you were begging for Super Why.  After a minute, Emily said, "okay, Super Why."  You immediately responded, "that makes me SO happy!!!"  You were so excited and said, "thank you, that makes me so happy, Emiwy!"  Emily's response... "you're welcome.  When you are happy that makes me happy."  Awwww.

Today we drove in the parking lot for Trader Joe's but had to turn back out to go to Ralphs.  You told me, "I am fwustwated cuz I want to go to Twader Joe's, not the gwocewy store."  (insert furrowed brow)

You are always listening - even when not being spoken to directly.

Tonight Emily referred to her fork as a dingle hopper like Scuttle in the Little Mermaid.  She was telling a tale (to herself) and said, "...and he said, that's a dingle hopper."  Unfamiliar with that movie, you interjected, "And he said, that's a fork, I mean."  You spoke as if you were Emily correcting herself.  It was very funny and very smart of you.

I just went into your room and it was dark.  When I picked you up (my turn to sing songs) you said, "sing me a song pwease, Mama."  I asked, "how did you know it was Mama?"  You said, "when you came in."  I asked, "did you see me or could you smell me?"  Your answer, "smell you."  Of course I asked what I smell like and you answered, "quesadilla." (That happens to be your favorite food, so I'll take it.)  I  was interested in hearing more so I asked you about everyone else...

Today I took a few animal crackers with 2 surprises as an after school snack/tide you two over while we run an errand snack when we picked up Emily.  When I pulled you out of the car at Emily's school you only had the two hidden chocolate almonds left in the bottom of the bowl.  You had pointedly saved them for last and as we approached the car to get back in you said (in a bit of a panic), "I don't want you to eat my chocolate, it's very special. It's very special for me, Emily!!"

Today we went back in to Party City where we had seen an electronic talking witch a week ago.  You do not like those Halloween decorations and so you worked very hard to give a WIDE berth around the witch.  You actually had to weave your way through some displays to make your way to me because I had walked by the witch to exit.  As you caught up to me and held my hand as we walked out the door, you said, (pant pant pant) "that was CrAzY!!!"

This evening we were at the park for playgroup.  You were kicking a softball all around on the sidewalk (it rolls better there than on the grass) and it rolled into the parking lot.  I told you that you couldn't go get it but as I went out to retrieve the ball I asked where it was.  I loved your response, "I see it nowhere!"

I was just putting you down for nap and as you rested your head on me I said, "are you tired? You had a big day today! ... We turned your chair around, you ate a big lunch..."  That's when you interjected, "and I got donuts at music class!"  Yes, yes you did.  It's funny what leaves an impression.

Everett: No.  I don't want to go to Trader Joe's.
Mama: Why?
Everett: One time (a staple answer to "why" or "how" questions).
Mama: Why don't you want to go to Trader Joe's?
Everett: Because.  Because.  The witch is in Trader Joe's.
Mama: No. The witch was next door.  The witch isn't in Trader Joe's, it is in the party store.
Everett: The witch was standing and talking.  (Halloween decoration)
Mama: Okay, you don't want to see the witch again?
Everett: I just want to stay home.

I just got you up and out of bed and asked if you wanted to go with Daddy, Mama, and Emily to the pumpkin patch.  You said, "yes, I want to go with you guys."  Then you told me (not ready for the day yet), "you need to get dressed first."  I questioned you and you said, "your shirt.  You need to put a shirt on and you need some pants on."

Today you did NOT want to go to MOPS.  It is just your third time, it is every other week, and a lot of the kids in your classroom cry... you kept telling me, "I don't want to go to school!  I want to stay with you!  I want to go home!"  It was heartbreaking but I left you in there anyway.  When I returned to pick you up, you showed me your great artwork.  You had colored and placed some stickers on a paper.  You counted the birdies for me (though you counted 4 and there were only 3).  Then, as we were leaving I asked to to tell your teachers good bye and thank you.  You did.  But you also added, "thank you for changing my poo-poo!"  <3

Today you didn't take a nap but chewed up your binky instead.  Those 2 year molars are really giving you a hard time and messing with your naps too!!  This is the second binky you have bitten through and this time took the entire tip off - didn't have to finish it off with scissors.

Anyway, when bedtime rolled around you were WAY tired and really fragile - NOT a good state to handle a binky-less night.  (I wasn't going to make you... we didn't take it away from Emily til she was 3 so you are safe for a while.)  Of course you were falling apart and crying, "I want it back!  I want to get it back.  My blue binkyyyyyyyyyyyy."  When your travel binky appeared, you giggled and eagerly stuck it in your mouth and immediately said, "I feel calmer."  "I feel better."

You are too much.  Calmer?!  xo

Just now when I was putting you to bed I noticed that you had really torn up your sleepsack a lot during your nap this afternoon.  I gasped and said, "oh, no!  What happened?!"  Then I started *crying.*  Without any more words from me you said, "it's okay, Mama.  I am sorry, Mama.  I will never do it again."

A bit later you asked if I was sad about the sleepsack and I said that I was.  Then you told me again, "I will never do it again,  Mom."

I am impressed daily with your vocabulary and full sentences.

Everett: (removing binky) What is follow?  What does follow mean?

Seriously?  It's no wonder you have such a huge speaking vocabulary.

When we were packing for our trip, Emily stuffed a bunch of toys for you in her small Emily backpack.  You wore it around the house a little and loved it but I chose a different bag for you to take on the trip to Texas.  Today, you realized that I had switched out the bags and said later, "I miss my backpack."

Tonight I was brushing your teeth before bed and mentioned that we have to continue to do a good job (you don't love it) on your teeth because we are going to see the doctor in a few days.  I asked if you wanted the doctor to think you were doing a good job and you said, "yeah."  Then you said, "there are fishies at the doctor!"  This means that you understood that when I was talking about the doctor and your teeth, you knew I was referring to the dentist and not the pediatrician.  This also means that you remember details about the dentist's office that are unique to it - e.g. the large aquarium in the waiting room.

I am amazed by you daily.

Today we were playing golf out in the backyard and every time I would claim a ball as my own, you would hit it and play with it.  One time when you hit your ball to the other side of the yard, you ran to claim my ball and said, "your ball over there, Mama!  I hit it over there!"
