February 11, 2015

This evening I was nursing Eliza while you were in the bathroom.  I could hear some different noises (like cabinets being bumped/shut) that didn't seem necessary for what you were supposed to be doing so I called out and asked you what the noise was.  You responded, "I'm breathing out and in.  That's what I need to do."

*You do have more labored breathing than normal because you are congested and you said this in all seriousness - adorable

This evening you were getting ready for bed all by yourself so that you could impress Daddy when he came home.  You proudly showed me that you were all dressed in your pajamas and so I asked you if you had gone to the bathroom.  You said, "yes."  -PAUSE-  "I forgot to flush the toilet."

Not true!  You hadn't gone, but you are smart enough to come up with an answer for why I might not have known you had gone to the bathroom.  Boy, oh boy!  I called you out on your dishonesty and a few minutes later, as you were going to the bathroom, you told me you were so sorry for lying.  At least you did apologize without a long discussion or any prompting??

Today you said to me, "I see hair on my arms!  That means I'm gonna grow up to be a daddy."

Telling me about using adult toothpaste...

We didn't have it (kid toothpaste) downstairs so Mimi and Papa said, "fine, you guys use human toothpaste."  So they got out the human toothpaste and then he (Papa) put it on the toothbrush and brushed it all over my mouth!!  He got some water and stuffed it all over my face.  I did NOT like it!!"

I love that you refer to adults as "humans."  You don't have "adult" solid in your vocab yet I guess.  haha

Today you were reflecting on the time that Mimi and Papa were at our house taking care of you and Emily (just after Eliza's birth) as you were explaining when you had used our toothpaste. I guess the set up is that Mimi and Papa had your toothbrushes downstairs and you said, "we didn't have it downstairs (your kid toothpaste) so Mimi and Papa said fine, you guys use human toothpaste. So they got out the human toothpaste and then he (Papa) put it on the toothbrush and brushed it all over my mouth!! He got some water and stuffed it all over my face! I did NOT like it!!"

I love your description of events. I love how you say human in place of adult and I can imagine exactly how it all went down with the vigorous brushing and the large cupped hand of water. Made me laugh.
